Structured checklist for a primary care general practitioner’s routine check-up.
1. Patient History
- Medical history: Past illnesses, surgeries, hospitalizations
- Family history: Diabetes, hypertension, cancer, genetic conditions
- Lifestyle factors: Diet, exercise, smoking, alcohol, stress, sleep
- Current complaints / symptoms
2. Physical Examination
Vital Signs
- Blood pressure
- Heart rate
- Respiratory rate
- Temperature
- Oxygen saturation
- BMI (weight, height, waist circumference)
General Examination
- Skin, eyes, ears, nose, throat
- Heart and lungs (stethoscope examination)
- Abdomen (palpation for tenderness or swelling)
- Musculoskeletal system (joints, muscles, posture)
- Neurological screen (reflexes, strength, sensation)
3. Recommended Laboratory Tests
(As per age and risk factors)
- Complete Blood Count (CBC)
- Blood sugar: Fasting glucose, HbA1c
- Lipid profile: cholesterol, triglycerides
- Kidney function tests
- Liver function tests
- Urine analysis
- Vitamin D, B12 (if indicated)
- Thyroid function (if symptoms suggest imbalance)
4. Preventive Advice & Health Counseling
- Nutrition and weight management
- Exercise recommendations
- Smoking and alcohol cessation
- Stress management & sleep hygiene
- Regular follow-ups
